After reading all the past posts concerning window replacement, what is the consensus for foam tape, sealants, etc?
Two of my pilot side windows have leaked some time in the past and it appears as if they were installed with silicone, which I know is a no-no. Going to remove them and MAY replace them with a UVA blocker type or simply clean them up and re-install.
The shop I work with uses Pro-Seal, but that almost precludes removing them easily in the future in the event of replacement. I've read about electrical tape rather than the foam tape and the use of the 3M Caulk strips. Not sure I'd use 5200 for the same reason that it's TOO good at permanent adhesion.
Looking for long term success advice from the actual 'doers' of the job
My '75 Arrow came from the factory with the 'Super Soundproofing' option, so from what I've read, the windshield is already .250 thick. It's in very good condition, however it appears as if that was installed also with silicone. If I decide to remove it I'll probably do away with the center bar at the same time.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Joe
