I am looking for tips, techniques and materials for the exterior sealing of the airframe windows. I am speaking of the caulk-like sealant applied to the skin and plastic joint, usually 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide.

What materials have been used for this joint? Seems like a polyurethane product, but I don't know. I believe a properly installed window may not even require this sealant.

Materials?

Techniques?

Tips?
