I looked at a low low time '62 Comanche that has sat in a closed hangar for 28 years. The owner died and the heir hired a mechanic to bring it to up to snuff for sale. Owner doesn't fly and won't provide any insurance. Aircraft is a time capsule with not one dent. Tail AD done and now non-recuring, gear bungies done, all hoses, etc. They pumped oil under pressure to make sure everything was coated. Has new non-AD prop. Radios old Collins digital but like new, 2-nav coms. Drained all fuel and added new of course. Runs perfect. 800SMOH and TTAF & E under 2000 hrs. Radios were stored in a house for all of the storage years and work fine. All new tires. Factory zinc chromate. Visual inspection everything looks new except paint trim is tired. Original split front windscreen. Toe brakes, . Buying without flying first seems very risky. Thoughts? It is local which is an advantage.
