Right Tank Sender.JPEG

So, I pulled my right tank to do SB1006 and found this leak. I assume the sealant is proseal, but am I correct that this is a repair and not the OEM application? I've got the Airward kit so I have the new sender gasket etc, but what's the preferred method to remove the old/unnecessary sealant to prepare for the new gasket.

Thanks in advance.
John
