I have a 1968 PA28-140. How easy is it to add an alternator warning light?

My alternator just died. Not sure how much of the flight it was offline. I'd like to know sooner rather than later in order to plan, rather than have the radios die and have that be the first indication.

I recently installed a Plane Power voltage regulator, and plan to install a Plane Power alternator. I think the PP VR has an output for an indicator light. Is this a simple modification the A&P can wire up for me or should I buy something that is premade? Sounds like this would be a minor modification, logbook entry only, instead of a 337?
