I have an 1972 Aztec Turbo E model with intermittent blinking alternator warning lights, mostly on the right. I thought the alternator might be bad, so I had it re-built (probably a little prematurely). The problem continued. Upon further diagnosis and test flights, it was determined that when the switch is turned (while the light is on) to either alternator, it shows that they are putting out power. Also, by turning off the opposing alternator field, the light continued, but power was present, as per the meter when switched to that side. My mechanic checked the grounding and noted that the plane had 2 newer plane power voltage regulators installed. The alternator repair place said those voltage regulators are not compatible with the switching mechanism for the warning lights, and there is some type of bypass from the regulators directly to the lights that can be done. My mechanic is a little hesitant and maybe unsure of exactly what to do. Any suggestions??
