Ok, opening big can of worms, but which GPS should I be looking at? I am thinking a Garmin 49* handheld, but then there are the area ones as well. Also, I do have a slot on the dash that might accept an installed one, but the $$ for that may be a while coming.

I guess to keep things simple, should I look into the 49* series or similar, or the area ones? What are the major differences? I haven't flown with any other than an old b&w one my uncle has, no idea what model it is (it's a Garmin of some sort) and I have never progrmamed one, just flown with him using his progmaming.

If there's another brand that you recommend, let me have that as well, I'll do my due dilligence and look at all the good ones before I buy.

Thanks, sorry if this blows up into a huge debate, but I'd like to know some opinions of what's out there.

David
