Thoughts on a Cherokee 180?

Hi
Im a private pilot with a instrument rating and also a A&P Mechanic. So..after my fiance becomes my wife in a few months we have talked about the idea of getting an airplane for the amount and type of flying we do.

I have maybe 10 hrs in Cherokees but its been a while sense i flew one so i cant remember how they actually perform, so i got some questions.

Our budget is 30-50k and im looking for something that will do soft field ops when asked. As my family has a 2600ft grass strip on our farm that im sure i will use pretty frequently.
Auto gas in a must with today's prices,id like to be in 1000lb useful load area and do in the 115knts or better.
I
I am not biased with low wing or high wing, but this is what i have noticed in my flying time. High wings do soft feild ops better but i never tried a Cherokee which 25 degrees of flaps on take off only 10, but on the other side low wings seem to handle turbulence better and give a better ride.

So i have tossed the idea of a older Cessna 182 due to average of 1100lb usefull and 130kts but the ones in our price range our pretty much high time engines, which also means high time prop. Dealing with one overhaul i think is bad enough. Im also not a fan of 12gph and the 1500tbo time on older 182s, so i pretty much ruled that out.

Most of my time is in a 172 which i like just which they carried a little bit more and when just a little bit faster.
If the cherokee 180 does what i would like they seem like a nice choice and there are decent ones in my price range.

I Guess im just looking for all the info i can before a i make a decision, also for those that have some of speed mods like gap seals and wheel pants please chime in.

So i guess in short i want to know form people that have them what a Cherokee 180 does with or with out the speed mods in Cruise speed, usefull load ( average as everyplane is different) and gph
