I asked my son about what is covered by the full motion simulation, which he does once a year. Of course for the relatively simple plane he flies (Cessna Caravan) there is not as much to simulate as a heavy jet, but I was surprised by how much they do. He mentioned asymmetrical flap deployment, ice, CG variation and being out of limits, engine failure (i.e.: glide), and more. Too bad that the average private pilot is not able to experience this sort of thing.
