During the annual inspection we have begun on our PA-28-160, we are attempting to comply with Service Bulletin NO. 977, which states that you must cut inspection holes in the baggage compartment on our PA-28 in order to inspect the rear spar attach fittings for corrosion. As shown in sketch A, which relates to our aircraft, the inspection panel hole dimensions appear to put the inspection panels too far aft from the rear spar to do a proper inspection. These dimensions contradict the diagram shown in sketch B which shows the holes much closer to the spar. Has anyone else come to the same conclusion? If so, are you aware of any further guidance that may help resolve this issue? Any further knowledge on this issue would be of great help and would be much appreciated. Thanks.
