After flying lots of time in 172, 182, Cirrus (SR20, 22), PA 28 and PA 32, I've pretty much settled on buying a C6 / Saratoga.

Question...My instruction in managing constant speed prop has been really sparse. My instructor basically said reduce to 25" and 2,500 at 500 for climb. Then, cruise with match between rpm and MP (Example: 2,300 = 23"). If it runs rough, increase the rpm's.

Before this thread goes the route of "how could your instructor be so stupid", let's just acknowledge that his advice is either inaccurate or incomplete.

So that brings me to my question. Are there any threads or good articles I can read that really help with understanding the delicate balance between Manifold Pressure, RPM's, and Leaning?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
