Why did Piper choose to go with the "push to start" ignition switch? Looking through the parts manual, it seems that the earlier cherokees had the mag switch and starter button separate, then they went to the combined "twist and push to start" and then transitioned to the "twist to start". Does that generally follow the line-up?

I was reading somewhere that the "push to start" would keep the fat fingered pilot from engaging the starter on a mag check?

Personally, I like the lever type twist to start...I'm not a fan of twisting and mashing the little key to achieve a positive contact...
