I have a 1979 Piper Turbo Arrow and I was reading the prop log books over the weekend and it says that the next prop overhaul is in 72 months or 2000 hours.

The prop will have 6 years in Jan of 2012 but it only has 400 hours. It has been balanced 6 months ago and according to the mechanic that made the entry the prop is in condition.

So what I need to know is the 72 months or 2000 hours a recommended time and hours like you have on an engine? or it's a must overhaul?

The pror is physically in great condition so do I have to overhaul it?
