Hi all I am new to the forum having just purchased a 1977 Archer II. The problem I am having is a water leak that I am trying to track down. Unfortunately the aircraft has to live outside but it has a good cover over the cabin area. The water pools in the front footwells and nowhere else. I suspected the front air vents as the wet patch on the carpets is on both sides just under the air vents. I removed the side lining and found the valve unit was not attached to the fuselage side as I suspect it should be and the gasket was history. The vent was being held in place by high speed tape which had come adrift. I have replaced both wing root seals and in an effort to stop the water backed them up with RTV. I have also replaced the door and storm window seals but that whole area is covered anyway.
My question is how are the valve units attached to the fuselage as I see no anchor nuts or rivnuts and it would be impossible to get in behind without removing the wing. Any help would be much appreciated.
Rgds Steve
