It's not even peak summer yet and my iPad overheated and shut down on me twice in same flight. Have used it for 4 years and this is the first time it happened to be just because I didn't have the air vent directed towards it.
But this make me think if I should switch to 796 instead. So far I am a committed FF stratus user and wonder how would be the transition to 796 with Garmin pilot as backup.
Equipment I have PMA8000BT, 530w, kt74 for adsb out. Stratus for adsb in and flightstream 210.
I would need to replace my stratus2s with gdl39 also. So cost is going to be approx $3500 for setup plus subscriptions.
Does 796 subscription provide free access to Garmin pilot? Their website mentions bundle packages but without much information.
Your thoughts - Good? Bad? Or leave setup as is and use a second iPad IR iPhone as backup efb?
