Kind of weird. So I noticed recently my turn coordinator runs fine upon initial start up, indicating turns while taxiing, but like clock work dies before I make it to the runup area. So I'm curious just how long it takes to fail and does it make any noises or anything when it fails that I can't hear over the engine. To test for this I flip on the master and do not start the plane, I hear the gyro to spin up as usual, and start a timer and start listening for the gyro to fail and start winding down. The thing is, after 15 minutes on the battery, the gyro is still running fine. Well, maybe I'm mis-hearing it, so I flip on the wing leveler, grab my tow bar and pull the plane out of the spot in a turn and see the ailerons adjust so I know the TC and AP are working fine. I hop back in, fire up the engine and as usual it's initially indicating turns but within 90 seconds the TC is dead again. I can send it off to Autopilots Central and have it repaired I guess but I am really wondering why does starting the engine cause the TC to die? It seems to work beautifully on the battery. Thoughts? Thanks much! Tom
