So I'm pretty new to archers and currently fly a 1984 with aspen display that my club has and love the plane. I came from C172's. I just have a few "newbie/rookie" questions.

First off I know the EGT gauge is the exhaust gas temperature gauge and is pretty much primarily used when leaning the aircraft (from what I believe). From what I read when I lean I should look for a slight increase (max peak) in both this gauge and the tachometer and then push mixture back in roughly a 1/2". Is this correct?

Also a question pertaining to the suction gauge. I hardly ever keep an eye on this during flight or takeoff and I know it's there for a reason and I should be checking it out every now and then. Is there a way to properly read this gauge and/or even check it during run up, takeoff, etc? I believe it's normally pegged/positioned in the middle of the gauge during normal operations...

Sorry for such newbie questions. Appreciate all the help!
