I have a new to me 1982 Archer II. I'm getting a violent shimmy on the nose wheel when braking hard at 25 knots or higher speeds. (It feels like the "death wobble" on trucks and jeeps). It only happens while hard braking. As soon as I release the pressure on the pedals it goes away. And it only happens when braking with the pedals. If I use the hand brake, I can brake really hard, no shimmy at all.
I read all the shimmy previous posts. I know that torque link screws, damage or out balance tires/rims, wheel pants, damage shimmy damper and all linkages could be the cause. I'm going to check all that. But I wonder if someone else has experienced the same problem and know the solution. It will save me some time and money.
