Fellow Aviators,
I own a 75 Piper Turbo Seneca and I am wanting to use it to get my private multi-engine rating. A flight instructor is urging me to use a non-turbo Seneca that his flight school operates to get the rating instead of using my aircraft. He cites the risk of seizing the turbos as a result of shock cooling when doing the required in flight emergency engine restart. I have heard various things about shock cooling, but is this such a concern?
Outside the training environment, do I risk tearing a turbo apart if one of my engines shuts down in flight? You guys have been helpful before, so help is always appreciated.
Thanks.
