Took a nice flight today, and decided to get my xponder 2 year thing done. So, Off to Toccoa I go. When I got there I was told that all his guys were out sick. Then he told me to pull it in and he'd give it a go. He pulled the unit to record the required information, then put it back in, and (I believe that's where the trouble started). End result was after 3 transponders, and 3 encoders, still not getting altitude. He said; "I know these were working when we pulled them". I also agreed that there's no way we could have 4 bad transponders, and 4 bad encoders. So, I re-installed my encoder, and my transponder. I noticed that the transponder didn't seat fully. I had to loosen the screw, and push a bit on the right corner as I tightened the screw. It then seated fully. I asked him to run one more test, and we got 1200, at 900' (FE is 925) It was then good. I told him of the seating thing, and may have simply been a bad connection from the get-go. Either way, I'm good to go for another 2 years.
