My mechanic told me that on the Cherokee, the nose wheel is directly linked to the rudder pedals and that the nose wheel turns whenever the rudder pedal is pressed even in flight. He also said that the rudder trim will affect where the nose wheel is pointed.
This seems odd to me, especially because that means that the nose wheel is turned when you land in a crosswind using the slip method, and that if you don't get the trim to neutral before you land, even if there is no crosswind, you are going to land with the nose wheel turned.
Is this right? What am I missing here? If it's true, how do you deal with the crosswinds and with getting the trim to exactly neutral?
