I am just curious of what approach you prefer when both options are available. Some might say it makes no difference but personally I usually ask for RNAV approach but still dial in the ILS into my second radio so I have a backup or cross reference available on hand. Even when I am cleared visual, I would dial in ILS where available. The good thing about the good old radio and ILS is that it would show me the indicators from miles out or even when I turn final from base. Sometimes ATC will call base or final 1 mile out and sometimes 3, so it helps me plan proper descent regardless. Of course, we also have PAPI/VASI to help regardless but when it comes to approach options, which one do you pick and why?
