Hi everyone. I have a few questions about cost of ownership for an Arrow. I am sure this is probably the 1,000 thread on this.
My main question revolves around maintenance cost compared to a fixed gear plane-i.e. the Dakota. I am currently in a club where I have access to a Dakota. I love the plane, but it is probably overkill for my needs and it does like the 100LL.
I am trying to get a ballpark figure for annual costs. Here is what I have through my research but any help you might have would be much appreciated. Costs are for a 180R.
Insurance: $1700-AOPA Quote
Annual: $1200-base
Main.: $2,500-additional ????? is this even close
Hang: $140 a month-Midwest
100LL: 10GPH
I guess I would like to know if these costs are close. I know the insurance will be less for the Dakota, but more fuel. Which one will cost me less to own a year? Will the extra fuel of a Dakota cost more than gear maintenance on an arrow?
Realistically, I am planning on buying a plane in the next 18 months and just trying to get my ducks in a row.
