The FAA has decided to rewrite Part 147 training requirements to become an A&P mechanic. The new Change becomes effective 21 September 2022.

One significant change is dropping the hours of experience or training needed to qualify. The present 1900 hour requirement for either the A or the P is being eliminated! This has long been a detriment for anyone wanting to become a certified mechanic.

Although this change is being made to Part 147, let’s hope that it also trickles down to Part 65 for those who go the more traditional route of experience based applications.
