Was hoping someone could clarify something for me regarding the dual g5 installation.

The century ap is an attitude based autopilot, with the dual g5 installed and a gad29b from what I can tell the ap would get course information and gpss roll steering information from the 2nd g5 (hsi) however is the original attitude indicator still required for the old century ap to still work? from what I can tell the gad29b doesn't actually output attitude information to the century ap...

I know originally Garmin stated in early release that it could be a complete replacement ie pull the original attitude indicator for attitude based autopilots, that said I think they reversed their position and / or let that die out... all the installs I have seen with complete vacuum removal have either had no auto pilot or its been an stec ( rate based with Turn Co-ordinator) so removing an attitude indicator doesn't effect autopilot function...

in summery from what I can tell for attitude based autopilots (not stec)

1. heading bug info can be output from gad29b to ap
2. roll steering info can be output from gad29b to ap (gpss)
3. gpss information from a Wass navigator can be passed to the g5 (hsi) and passed to the ap in gpss mode
4. nav data from a Wass navigator can be overlaid on the g5 (hsi) then passed to ap through gad29b...

So can the original attitude indicator be removed completely for attitude based autopilots?
--- have a feeling not...
