Sad news for all involved. Accident occurred sometime after 11 pm Sunday night, not discovered until Monday morning. Harbor Springs, MI airport can be a bit tight / tricky and can surprise you with unexpected weather as it is just on the East end of a bay in Lake Michigan (I have no idea if this was a factor). The plane came down short of the field at a brick plant. The single occupant was a Lieutenant for the MI Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement and was based in the Detroit area. He apparently had flown to Northern MI in a private plane for a meeting. The aircraft is registered to the Tuskegee Airman Museum.
