I have a '71 Arrow with the IO-360-CIC and two blade prop. Approximately 600 hours SMOH (2010) on the motor. I've got over 500 hours in this plane and am always alert for subtle little changes - sounds, vibrations, etc.
Recently I've noticed a small change at cruise. At 2500rpm, the engine sounds and "feels" normal like it always has. I always run ROP according to my JPM engine monitor. However, when I pull the prop back to 2400 rpm, or even 2100 rpm, I notice a small vibration in the plane that wasn't there before. The vibration isn't excessive, but definitely wasn't something I'd noticed before. The vibration feels a little worse at 24oo vs. 2100, but there's not a significant difference. At 2500 and above, I don't notice any unusual vibrations.
The only thing I've done so far is just to look at the prop, but if something had happened to it, I would think I would feel vibrations at all rpms.
Any ideas on what I could look at? At what point would this be considered serious enough to have a mechanic check it out? Thanks for any help.
