I have looked at a couple of 140's for purchase. One was a 1972, the other a 1974. On the 1974 I noticed a doubler on the under side of the wings inboard of the main gear. These plates were probably 8 x 8 or so. I did not think at the time to take a picture. I do not recall seeing these plates on the 1972 plane, but I was concentrating on the gear torque links.

Is this normal for a '74 or is this possibly a patch for a cracked lower skin. I did not see anything in the logs about a crack repair for the lower. The plates are in the same position on both the left and the right.

Before I head out to the airports to crawl around under a 140 I thought I would ask here. Any insight on this and help would be greatly appreciated.
