At least the 74-75 Warriors (first years for the tapered Cherokee wing) have a fairly complex fuel system with two outlets from the fuel tank, one fore and one aft, feeding a fuel manifold—a small collecting tank—at the base each wing. Fuel lines then go from the manifold to the fuel selector valve. There are three flexible lines on each side that eventually deteriorate and are a bear to replace due to access.
Anyone know the reason why Piper started out with this system for the first two years of the tapered wing on the Warrior? Only idea I have is that usable fuel access would be increased at different angles of attack.
76 and onward Warriors (SN 28-7615001) have only a single fuel line outlet from the fuel tank and no fuel manifold. I have no idea whether other Cherokee models have this system. You can tell if you have this system because there are two fuel drains on each wing.
