So I've been considering upgrading to Garmin G5 or Dynon because I can't afford $10k in Aspen PDF Pro. This morning, in flight today my vacuum fails and with it my attitude indicator and heading. Am I reading correctly online that both Garmin and Dynon can only replace attitude indicator as primary, which would still require me to keep my old vacuum driven heading indicator? I am considering just spending the $500 a replacement vacuum would cost and rolling that into Glass instruments. Does this make Aspen my only option if I don't want to repair my vacuum? If I do go Aspen, am I allowed to remove all vacuum driving instruments (heading and attitude indicators) as well as the vacuum itself? Is there an alternative to Aspen if I want to get rid of my vacuum driven instruments? Cost is an issue now, although I plan to upgrade to Garmin GTN 750 within 2 years... Thoughts..? All original 1977 avionics with the exception of engine monitors.
