Have a Piper PA28-140 with a King 76A transponder. It all got certified in May 12 and so far I had no problem.

Now since a few flights the transponder turns off in flight and ATC can see me but no altitude is transmitted. I switch it on and off. Test position in flight and let it sit. Today ATC told me to change the heading and in the moment I changed it the transponder orange light turned back on and started working again. Did not turn off again for the hour flight left. I had no issue on my flight to the Bahamas the passed weekend but today it happened again. What could the problem be?
