Well, maybe. It had been flying well, but during the annual my A&P found all four cylinders needed to be replaced due to cracks. Then he found camshaft pitting. Game over.

A rebuilt O-360-A4A from Air Power is $40K (!) because they won't accept my ancient, previously rebuilt engine as a core. I suppose I could have a local A&P rebuild the engine, but I don't know how wise or cheap it really is to overhaul an engine that has already been run out twice.

The paint's poor and the interior leaves a lot to be desired. Turning this into a plane deserving of a zero-time engine would add another $20K.

Do I just shoot it to put it out of its misery, and move on to a new bird? Can one get any value out of such a plane from a salvage company?
