I am planning on doing a top end o/h on my Cherokee 6-260. This means 6 new cylinders (plain steel) probably from ECI

The engine uses the narrow deck cylinders. I keep reading about the requirement for shims to position the cylinder hold down plates.

What kind of shims are these and where might I get them?

I also concerned about the proper torque sequence for the through bolts after I have all 6 cylinders off.

I know I can find the torque sequence in the o/h manual but I don't find much about the need for the shims.

Any one out there know any thing more about these shims.?

Thanks
