Top door latch doesn't lock

So I've replaced the plastic cam piece in my top latch and it's still not working right. You can turn the handle too far past the engage point and it releases the latch. As you turn the handle it does engage and begin to tighten, but then it just release all pressure and the latch swings aft.

Suggestions?
