It looks like eventually I'll have to have the nose gear strut in my Cherokee 140 overhauled. Not losing gas right now, but there are pits on the lower end of the piston tube. Don't see any used pistons out there that don't have pits too. Did see a PMA outfit that supposedly makes replacements but only to order. Has anyone hav any experience getting your old one reworked by grinding out the pits and replating? How much$$ ? Was there a non-destructive way to determine whether it can be reworked?
