Anyone have any experience with the STC for modifying the Maeco shimmy dampener? My old mechanic seems to have the attitude that, if it leaked before, it'll leak again. But he wants me to spend $1800 on a replacement part :!: Wonder why...

I'm thinking of doing it myself and getting my "new" mechanic to look it over and sign it off. I'm curious how long it lasts before it has to be refilled again.

I figure I can buy alot of 5606 for $1800...
