Ran into an interesting issue during our Annual this year - wanting to check for exhaust leakage at the cylinder washers, we rigged up a vacuum cleaner to pressurize the exhaust plumbing. Didn't find any leaking gaskets, but we DID notice some bubbles at the turbo flange! The turbo housing is a casting, .. as is the mating flange where the exhaust system connects and the parts manual shows nothing installed or optional at that interface.
The annual checklist only calls for a visual inspection, .. which makes me concerned that there may be other birds flying with similar problems.
Anyone ever seen this sort of issue? If so, what was the solution?
