Hey all- first post to the forums. I acquired a 1979 PA-32-300 two weeks ago.

I may pepper the forum with a few questions in succession but i’ll keep them separate

First one is on power settings for descending from cruise. Yesterday i needed to descend from 9500 while cruising at WOT and 2200 RPM.

I can’t find anything in the POH regarding best descent procedure. Should I leave the rpm alone and just pull back power to desired VS? Or do I need to bring RPM back up first? Hate to waste all those rev’s when they aren’t needed. I know cooling shock is a concern and kept an eye on CHT and since throttle was back I didn’t need to richen during the descent. I have read the phrase “you don’t want the prop driving the engine” and wasn’t sure if this was a factor in the PA-32.

Any guidance appreciated-
