Hi All,

I am looking at having a 4-cylinder EGT/CHT installed in my airplane, a 1972 PA-28-180 s/n 28-7205259. It currently has a single cylinder EGT/CHT gauge of questionable quality.

Question 1: Is an EGT/CHT a primary instrument for my airplane?

I’ve looked at the TCDS and regulations, and I think the answer is no; however, I’m not certain & I haven’t had a chance to ask my mechanic (he’s been out of town). If it is a primary, I will need to make sure whatever I choose is approved / STC’d for my bird.

Question 2: Does anyone have experience with Aerospace Logic?

They have an STC’d combo EGT/CHT that I like the look of, but I’m curious about their quality/reputation/customer service.

If I were to go with the Aerospace Logic unit, I suppose question 1 would be irrelevant, but I would still like to know if an EGT/CHT gauge is a primary instrument or not.

Thank you all for your time!
