As I look through reports on various Arrow, Lance, and Saratoga (even some Seneca) incidents/accidents, as well as many of the same aircraft that are for sale out there, it's a recurring theme that many have been subject to a nose gear collapse in their history. Some have even had several. One of the first things that I learned flying my Lance (transitioning from a C172) was how to gently set the nose down after landing.
My question is, other than a hard landing, is there a common reason as to why these collapses occur? Something mechanical maybe? I know these systems are not identical, but they do share much commonality. Just curious.
