Hi folks
Im a new Canadian owner of C-GAKE a Piper Turbo Aztec E 1974, just importated from the USA.
I was flying a NA Rockwell Commander 114 so I know a bit about IO-540 engines.
The left engine has just 200h SMOH and the right has 40h SMOH this year (got the breaking with mineral and now is on synthetic oil).
I made the first crosscountry flights after a 15 hours training and IFR check and could start making tests on the power settings using the Insight G4.
I was unable to test the turbo power settings because of an issue with too high CHT (above 400) on the left engine. The previous owner told me to cruise at 24/26 andlean to 1550 TIT, but I found the CHT still too high.
Here are pictures of an example at -10oC at 9000, 24 RPM 26 MP with left cowl flaps half open (I get 168 KT TAS, 32 gal/h):
What do you think about it?
Regards!
