I first got interested in flying just about the time piper came out with the Cherokee 140. I think that was in the early 60's. That was when you could take an introductory lesson for $5.00 with the coupon from flying magazine. I took a couple of those from Teterboro airport in north jersey and some from spring valley air port in spring valley NY. All were in a Cherokee 140 or 180.
Now fast forward to 1998. This is when I got serious about getting my private pilot license . I was able to get 13.3 hrs dual. Then I stopped. I only had 1.5 days off on the week end and it was taking me away form family time. So I said I would wait until I retired. My 13.3 hrs were out of mill ville NJ. That too was in a Cherokee 140.
Now I have a truck(F 350 diesel dually) and fifth wheel(32 ft cedar creek) I would like to sell and purchase a 140/160. I'm sure I would clear enough to pay cash for a 140/160 in the low to mid twenties.
Some things I still need to research is insurance for an new/low time pilot and the cost for hanger space at hammonton NJ air port ( N81). Thanks for reading. I will have many more questions.
