New CHT gauge reading inaccurately

So I bought two new alcor CHT gauges for my twin because one of my original ones died, and I wanted them both to match. Get them in and ran the engines and the temps after only 10 mins of idling read like 400F degrees, which is not even possible. What gives? My 18 gasket style probes are J type which is what the cht gauges call for.
