Mounting Fire Extinguisher in Dakota

I have a new (to me) Dakota and the previous owner did not have a fire extinguisher mounted in it... Not sure if he had one in his hanger but that doesn't really matter.

I bought one and planned to mount it in front of the pilot seat on the floor. My A&P tells me I can't do that because there is no subfloor there and mounting it like that can't be done. I thought maybe I could mount it to the front of the seat frame, while my A&P suggested perhaps behind the trim wheel.

Where do you PA28 owners mount a fire extinguisher?
