I have a 1977 turbo arrow. Continental engine with Merlin wast gate. Engine Is a factory remanufacture with 500 hours and the waste gate was factory overhauled.

Engine runs great except that once I reach 8000 feet I start to have trouble controlling the manifold pressure. Nudge it up and it jumps higher than I set it and vice versa. Takes lots of adjustments to finally get it set. Any slight change and you start again.

Any ideas what would cause difficulty in controlling manifold pressure?
