I finally bit the bullet and bought a nice low time Cherokee 6 a few months ago. Ive put about 50hrs on it so far and been getting some maintenance issues worked out on it because it had been flown very little in the last few years. I was really looking at it as a gateway plane to a Malibu in a few years, but I had the opportunity to sit in a Malibu recently and figured out, as much as I love the plane, I just don't fit in it very well. So, I'm looking at just upgrading the 6 and keeping it. That being the case, I'm looking at a major panel upgrade and have run some numbers. Heres a rough estimate of what I think its going to cost for either a G3x panel or a Dynon HDX. Thoughts, comments, or suggestions?? Guys who have flown behind these panels, is one better and why. Ive got over 100hrs in a G1000, so switching to a TAA isn't an issue, just want the best bang for the buck. Leaning toward the G3x because of the slightly lower price and the GFC500 over the Trutrack. Any constructive input would be helpful. The plane is a 1972 Piper Cherokee 6-260. If I keep it, it will also be getting the Rajay twin turbo upgrade to make it useful for flying out west. Please bear in mind, I know these are rough numbers. If anyone has an opinion on the Aspen vs these 2, I'd love to hear it and why as well.
