Class G uncontrolled (no tower) airport in the hills. (2100' elevation) South half of the runway is foggy with 400' overcast. (Can barely see the end of the runway from the middle of it) However, the north half is clear with blue skies. Winds are calm. No one in the pattern or on the CTAF frequency. 4700' paved runway.

So, if the north half of the runway is clear with blue skies, and my wheels leave the ground at a point on the runway that is 2,000 ft from the cloud bank that covers the southern half of the airport, am I legal for VFR? I am at least 2,000 ft horizontal, 500' below and 1,000 above any clouds, and I've got visibility of greater than 10 miles... as long as I don't turn around and head back south.
