For the iPad users out there:
As a newer pilot with my own plane, I do not get to rent/fly/use other equipment. As a student my cross country flying consisted of VOR, pilotage, and dead reckoning, but I am ready for a GPS. Where should I turn?
- I already have an iPad 2 for home use, but I can easily turn it into a flight tool. I think it would be very easy to use, but I am worried about losing signal while in flight. How reliable is the weather?
-Should I go Garmin? If so, should I go area 796, 560, or 510?
- I understand that "Use Both" us the standard response from most people, but the cabin of a 140 is not that big. Any space I can save is welcomed. If I purchase a 796, it will be my only/main tool. If I go with a smaller unit, I might consider using both.
- I understand the ForeFlight, WingX, and Garmin's My Pilot is a completely different debate, but feel free to tell me which you prefer.
