Further to this thread https://www.piperforum.com/threads/need-part-numbers-for-exhaust-studs-and-nuts.16853/, I have determined that it's time to put in a helicoil for my exhaust stud. Before going any further in the discussion, I am an A&P, but 99% of my experience is on nothing smaller than a 737. Having said that, I'm confident I can do it, but I'm very nervous. I have 2 immediate questions, one may sound stupid, but I want to be sure.... when a helicoil says it's 5/16-18, that is the inside thread, right, not the outside thread of the helicoil?
2nd question. I have read about the use of hi temp loctite, # 2620, good up to 650F. Thoughts on this? Use it? Don't use it? Flyguydon's input is especially appreciated but all comments and suggestions are appreciated!
