Once in a blue moon you may find yourself in a position where the starter won't turn your engine over. I've found that our Cherokees, and most other tricycle gear airplanes sit way too low for me to safely hand prop. I've found that if the center of the spinner sits below my shoulders, I cannot safely pull the prop past compression without my head getting in the prop arc. Yes I can do it, but it's way awkward, and I prefer not to. Most taildraggers OTOH I find to be much easier (safer) as the prop sits much higher.
